Liberty Compact
The Liberty Compact was inspired by the late Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, author of “Conscience of a Conservative,” who argued that often times government was not the solution but the problem. Candidates for public office seeking the endorsement of the Republican Liberty Caucus are asked to sign the Liberty Compact.

I pledge to the citizens of this State, and to the American people, that as their elected representative I will work to: restore liberty, not restrict it; shrink government, not expand it; reduce taxes, not raise them; abolish programs, not create them; promote the freedom and independence of citizens, not the interference of government in their lives; and observe the limited, enumerated powers of our Constitution, not ignore them.

Elected Officials
A number of elected officials are associated with the Republican Liberty Caucus either as members, endorsees or Liberty Compact signers. State Senator David Shafer of Gwinnett County is the RLC’s Honorary State Chairman and a member of the RLC’s National Advisory Board. State Representative David Casas, State Representative Donna Sheldon and Suwanee City Councilman Jace Brooks are all signers of the Liberty Compact and were elected to office with the endorsement of the RLC. Congressman John Linder, the leading proponent of the Fair Tax, is another Gwinnett county elected official who has been endorsed by the RLC.

Elsewhere in Georgia, Congressman Jack Kingston is a signer of the Liberty Compact and a member of the Liberty committee founded by Congressman Ron Paul of Texas. Congressman Max Burns is also a signerof the Liberty Compact. A dozen members of the State Senate belong to the Senate Liberty Caucus foundedby Senator Shafer, many of whom are signers of the Liberty Compact or were elected with the RLC endorsement.
