On the February 5th ballot the resident of Gwinnett will vote on a $750 million tax-exempt, General Obligation Bonds to support the County’s public schools. The funds will be used to “…to fund construction, technology, land purchases, and other “capital” needs”.

If you believe that our education system is in fundamental need of change, that we cannot continue to support a system that is falling behind the rest of the developed world in math and science, that we as a Nation cannot continue to support a failing system, the RLC of Gwinnett urges you to vote NO on February 5th.

Gwinnett Clean and Beatiful is reviewing the County's 10-year Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan

Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful is reviewing the County’s 10-year Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan. The organization asks how does this affect you. The short answer is to limit your choices and use the heavy hand of government to force consumer behavior. Although the site and related county published video elude to a proposed plan the actual details are left out of the conversation.

In the video there are a few references about requiring every household in Gwinnett to purchase trash services from one designated provider and requiring every household to pay for recycling services (even if you compost your yard waste you will still have to pay for the service). The site includes a “historic survey” of your opinion about the current trash collection system in Gwinnett.

Unfortunately for the truth the paragraphs leading to the link for the survey paint the current system as one big problem. Leading questions are used through-out the survey to force a negative response towards the current system. Again unfortunately for the truth the results of this biased survey will be used to justify a citizen’s demand from more government regulations and limiting of consumer choices.

The RLC of Gwinnett expects more out of our county and those appointed by our elected officials. As we evaluate the current system lets evaluate it openly and honestly. Lets looks at the positives and negatives. Lets fix the negatives and enhance the positives. Lets promote free markets and free market based solutions. Why does Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful want to force a heavy hand government solution on a Republican dominated county?
